Sand Hollow Fire Protection District preparing to deploy to Los Angeles

The Sand Hollow Fire Department is preparing a team for deployment to California after the state issued an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request for federal assistance between midnight and 1 a.m. on Wednesday.RELATED: President Biden promises full federal support as California responds to wildfires.The request called for 40 strike and/or task force teams. A strike team consists of five of the same apparatus and a task force is a combination of Type 1 Engines (structure fire) and Type 3 Engine (wildland fire).Each team consists of five units, resulting in a total request for 200 engines to be deployed to California, according to the Idaho Fire Chiefs Association (IFCA).
