WILLISTON, ND (KXNET) — A Williston man is in custody after breaking into a truck.
According to the Williston Police Department, the incident happened just before 4 a.m. on January 6.
The reporting officer said he saw two sets of fresh footprints in the snow along the road which were close to the driver's side doors of a parked vehicle.
As the officer followed the footprints, they were lost, but he found a man standing at the tailgate of a parked Ford Ranger and another man standing near the rear passenger door.
The officer continued to say that he saw the dome light and other interior lights were on. When the officer got close, one of the men quickly closed the door.

The report stated that the officer approached the men and told them to stop. Both men complied and were identified.
The reporting officer returned to the Ford and photographed the shoeprints, then contacted the owner of the Ford, who confirmed that nobody had permission to enter the truck.
The officer inspected the shoes of the man and the photographed prints and reportedly confirmed the 20-year-old had been breaking into the truck. The other man, another 20-year-old stated that he simply observed the incident, saying, "That was him. I saw him doing that and I started walking away."
One of the 20-year-olds was taken into custody at Williams County Correctional Center.
