Police: Man arrested in connection to Baton Rouge bank robbery

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge detectives arrested a man accused of robbing the Hancock Whitney Bank located on Government Street on Dec. 26.
According to an arrest warrant, Frankie New, 52, walked into the bank, threatened a bank employee, and demanded $1,200. New reportedly fled the area after the bank teller gave him $300.
The Baton Rouge Police Department obtained a warrant for New’s arrest after getting Crime Stoppers tips.
He was later located and taken into custody in Pointe Coupee Parish. New was transported back to Baton Rouge and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a charge of first-degree robbery.
Police noted that New has an extensive arrest history. According to BRPD, he previously pleaded guilty to charges of armed robbery, first-degree robbery and burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
