Audit shows $6K paid to two Iberville Parish employees for time not worked
Jan 08, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- An audit found that two Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office transportation employees were allegedly paid thousands of dollars for time they did not work.
Auditors said a total of $6,127 was misappropriated between Jan. 1 2024 and April 12, 2024, after two employees failed to certify their time.
The sheriff was recommended to consider implementing a process that requires supervisors to review and approve time. Sheriff Brett Stassi said in a letter responding to the audit's findings that the agency implemented a new plan in September 2024 to enhance its payroll process.
The sheriff's office's investigation was completed and turned over to the district attorney's office, according to the audit.
BRProud has reached out to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office for comment.
