BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Firefighters from Kern County are being sent to help fight raging wildfires tearing through Southern California. Dozens of firefighters from the Kern County and Bakersfield fire departments are being sent Wednesday to fight the wildfires burning in Pacific Palisades, Altadena and the Sylmar areas. The fires combined have burned over 22,000 acres and destroyed more than 1,000 structures. Two people have died in the Easton Fire, officials said Wednesday. Palisades Fire in L.A. destroys 1,000 structures; surpasses 12,000 acres A strike team from the Bakersfield Fire Department is being sent to fight the Eaton Fire in Altadena. The Kern County Fire Department said it is sending multiple strike teams, engines, firefighting equipment and more than 100 firefighters for the Southern California response. County fire officials said off-duty KCFD personnel are returning to duty to staff stations in Kern County. Intense winds, strong gusts and dry vegetation have caused flames to spread and ignite thousands of acres in Southern California on Tuesday. As of Wednesday afternoon, there is 0% containment on the wildfires.
