With multiple wildfires across L.A. County, it’s safe to say that today has already been far from normal. High-speed winds, which are expected to die down by 6pm tonight, have been worsening conditions on the ground for firefighters and other first responders. Tens of thousands of Angelenos have already been displaced, with the potential for evacuation areas to expand and the situation to get even more dire.For anyone displaced by the fire, however, a handful of L.A. restaurants are stepping up to the plate with free meals and shelter available. Layman Yeastie Boys (multiple locations) Evan Fox’s popular fleet of bagel trucks is currently handing out free bagels to evacuees and first responders outside these evacuation centers: Pasadena Convention Center, Ritchie Valens Recreation Center (Pacoima), Westwood Recreation Center and Downtown’s Emergency Operations Center. LaymanDanny Boy's Famous Original Danny Boy’s (Downtown and Westwood) First responders and evacuees can stop by either of Daniel Holzman’s namesake pizzerias for pizza slices on the house, plus wholes pies on a case-by-case basis. Photograph: Courtesy Joshua Orozco Oy Bar (Studio City) Though this fusion-y dive bar joint will be closed for regular service tonight, chef-owner Jeff Strauss will be handing out free soup outside Oy Bar from 3:30 to 5pm today, or until supplies run out. Sunday Gravy (Inglewood) This beloved neighborhood red sauce joint is providing free meals to first responders and anyone else displaced by the wildfires. Twenty percent of tonight’s sales will also go to Community Brigade, a program that assists the L.A.
