Mulch pile catches fire at facility north of Escondido

ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Crews responded to a mulch pile fire Wednesday morning at a facility north of Escondido, said officials with Cal Fire.
Their response was announced on X, formally known as Twitter, at 5:38 a.m. The following map was also released, showing the exact location of the incident:

SDG&E begins power shutoffs ahead of Red Flag Warning
Crews with the Deer Springs Fire Protection District and San Diego County Fire also responded to the scene, located on North Centre City Parkway.
Cal Fire initially said there were no threats of the fire extending into nearby vegetation or structures. In an update at 5:59 a.m., it was announced that the incident commander had declared the fire contained to a 10 foot by 10 foot space.

These school districts will close Wednesday ahead of Red Flag Warning
Cal Fire said crews will remain in the area to complete mop up operations. There is no ongoing threat to the area at this time.
This comes as San Diego County remains under a Red Flag Warning due to critical fire danger amid Santa Ana winds. The winds are expected to ease by Thursday, but another round will likely begin developing into Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
