JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Firefighters saved two cats from a burning home Wednesday morning in Jefferson City.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of Taylor Street at about 8:15 a.m., according to a Jefferson City Fire Department news release. A neighbor reported smoke coming from the windows and roof.
No one was home then, but firefighters found two cats and temporarily turned them over to animal control.
Moderate smoke was coming from a fire in the kitchen when firefighters arrived, the release says. The fire was contained to the kitchen but smoke damaged the house's entire main level.
One person lives in the house and was displaced, the release says.
The cause is being investigated.
