HICKORY, N.C. (WGHP) — Texas-based burger chain Whataburger broke ground on its first location in North Carolina on Tuesday. Whataburger executives and Hickory mayor Hank Guess were in attendance as the first dirt was shoveled out of the ground for the first Whataburger storefront in the Tarheel State. Seven of those stores are set to open in North Carolina with four in the Piedmont Triad alone.
