HICKORY, N.C. (WGHP) — Texas-based burger chain Whataburger broke ground on its first location in North Carolina on Tuesday. Whataburger executives and Hickory mayor Hank Guess were in attendance as the first dirt was shoveled out of the ground for the first Whataburger storefront in the Tarheel State. Seven of those stores are set to open in North Carolina with four in the Piedmont Triad alone. Whataburger executives & Hickory City officials at Groundbreaking Event (Credit: Whataburger) These are the locations and opening datesfor the four Whataburgers coming to the Triad: 1408 Four Seasons Station Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27407 –– Summer 2025 291 Harvey St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 –– Late Summer 2025 10118 N Main St., Archdale, NC 27263 –– Fall 2025 2713 N Main St., High Point, NC 27265 –– Fall 2025  These are the other two locations coming to North Carolina: 3415 E Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28056 –– Late Spring 2025 2060 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602 –– Summer 2025 12935 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte, NC 28227 –– Summer 2025 One of the restaraunts will be opening in Idian Land, South Carolina which is a part of the Charlotte metro area.
