SALISBURY, NC – The City of Salisbury will hold a memorial service to honor the life and legacy of Mayor Karen Alexander on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025. The service is being held at Bell Tower Green and starts at 5:30 p.m. Alexander died last month at the age of 73, following a battle with cancer. She stepped away from her duties as mayor following a cancer diagnosis in October. Alexander, first elected to Salisbury City Council in 2013, served as mayor during two separate terms beginning in 2015 and again in 2020. Throughout her tenure, the City of Salisbury said she focused on strengthening the community’s economic base, expanding opportunities for residents, and enhancing the overall quality of life. The public is invited to attend the memorial service and is encouraged to bring chairs.
