NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C (WCBD) - North Charleston is working to make Park Circle safer for vehicles and pedestrians. The inner lane of Park Circle will be closed from January 9 - 25 so that the city can conduct a traffic study. Park Circle is a popular destination that often sees high traffic on weekends and around holidays. And as the city continues improvements in the area, they want to see what should be done to ensure the circle is more efficient and safer for residents and visitors. By closing the inner lane, they hope to get real-time data for their study. They do not believe the closure will cause significant traffic congestion. "Around kids and pedestrians, it's always better for people to drive more carefully so hopefully with more signs and crosswalks they'd be inclined to do so," said Claire Keeton, a North Charleston resident. The park and community center will remain open despite the temporary lane closure.
