BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- IDEA Public Schools confirmed that two of its Baton Rouge schools will close at the school year's end. According to a statement, IDEA Innovation and IDEA Bridge will close at the end of the 2024-25 school year. School system officials said it is working with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and New Schools for Baton Rouge to transition operations at the two schools to new operators for the next school year. Read the full statement below. "IDEA Louisiana has faced many challenges since 2018 that have impacted our ability to deliver the standard of excellence that our families deserve. After careful consideration, the IDEA Louisiana Board of Directors and IDEA’s executive leadership have made the difficult decision to voluntarily surrender the charters of IDEA Bridge and IDEA Innovation at the end of the 2024-25 school year. Regional and national leaders are working closely with community partners, including East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBR) and New Schools for Baton Rouge (NSBR), to transition operations at IDEA Bridge and IDEA Innovation to new operators for the 2025-26 school year.  "While we are proud of the determination and grit of our students, the trust and patience of our families, and the dedication and commitment of our teachers and staff, we have not delivered the academic results our students deserve and believe that now is the time to bring in new options and opportunities for our scholars and their families. We believe that under these plans, students and families will be better positioned to continue their journey toward achieving their college and career dreams. IDEA Louisiana will stay fully operational through the end of the school year and collaborate with state and community partners to ensure a smooth transition."
