Sunday is the last day cash will be accepted at the Trenton-Morrisville bridge on Route 1, along with three other Delaware River crossings. The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission will end cash collections at 11 p.m. January 12. Starting January 13, drivers must use E-ZPass or TOLL BY PLATE to cross the bridges. The change affects the Trenton-Morrisville bridge, where 84% of drivers already use E-ZPass, plus the I-78, Easton-Phillipsburg, and Delaware Water Gap bridges. Drivers without E-ZPass will pay $3 through TOLL BY PLATE, which photographs license plates and mails bills to vehicle owners. E-ZPass users pay $1.50. Bills arrive after 30 days or when toll charges reach $50. Drivers who miss the payment deadline receive a second bill with a $5 late fee. Further delays result in a $30 administration fee per toll and referral to collections. Drivers can sign up for E-ZPass at www.ezpassnj.com. Cash payments for TOLL BY PLATE bills are only accepted at service centers in Newark and Camden, New Jersey, and New Castle, Delaware.
