Thousands of Kentuckians continue to deal with power outages from the winter storm that left inches of snow and ice across the commonwealth. Crews have been out since Sunday working to clear roads and trees and utility crews have been working to restore power. During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Governor Beshear said there is a reason for the fluctuating numbers of outages. “We still have a lot weight on tree limbs may be bringing power lines down and or power lines themselves might be iced over. The other thing that could be going on making this number going up and down is sometimes a utility has to turn off power to a certain part of their grid to safely repair different lines and get them back up.” Governor Beshear said bitter cold temperatures are on the way. He said there will be places people in need can go to stay warm. “We currently have 208 warming centers around the state that are open or on standby. Specifically, warming centers are open in counties with more than a thousand outages which at last report include, Henderson, Johnson, Morgan and Spencer Counties.” Temperatures are expected to get into the single digits over the next couple of days and more snow is expected this weekend.
