DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Darlington man is facing a pair of homicide charges in the deaths of two children killed in a Christmas Eve house fire, authorities said.
Matthew Andrae Graham Jr. is charged with two counts of homicide by child abuse in connection with the fire at a home on Cedar Ridge Road in the Dovesville area, the Darlington County Sheriff's Office said.

Three-year-old Avery Graham and his 2-year-old sister Sy'Riah Blanchard died in the blaze. The sheriff's office said the toddlers were left home alone and died at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville after the fire, which happened at about 6:45 p.m.
Warrants said Graham caused the death of the children left in his care "under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to human life through fatal neglect."
Graham was arrested Tuesday and taken to the W. Glenn Cambell Detention Center. He was granted a $100,000 bond during his initial court appearance and was released from jail late Tuesday afternoon. The charges carry a sentence of 20 years to life in prison, the sheriff's office said.
Graham's next scheduled court appearance is at 9 a.m. on March 26.
"Although all lives are important, the lives of children, and the obligation we all have to take care of them, is biblical," Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee said. "I take that seriously. Darlington County will always take care of our children. Always."
