FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno Chaffee Zoo announced Friday that they have temporarily closed two exhibits due to the bird flu. Zoo officials say both walkthrough aviaries, including the Tropical Rainforest and the Australasian Aviary, are closed indefinitely as a precaution; however, their Winged Wonders Bird Show and Macaw Flight experiences will still take place. The closure came only days before the first U.S. bird flu death was announced in Louisiana. Fresno Chaffee Zoo helped rescue dozens of exotic animals in 2024 According to the CDC, Bird Flu is a viral infection that usually spreads between birds - however, it has the potential to jump to humans where symptoms can range from mild to deadly.
