HS Boys Basketball Wrap: Dixon scores career high to lead Trenton High past Nottingahm

HAMILTON — Qadir Dixon had a career high with 27 points and the Trenton High boys basketball team turned on the jets in the second half to pull away from Nottingham for a 79-56 victory on Tuesday night at the Galaxy.
The Northstars actually took a brief lead when they scored the first basket of the third quarter before the Tornadoes responded with a 15-0 run to take control of the game. Trenton ended up outscoring Nottingham, 20-4, in the quarter.
Dixon came into play averaging a double-double of 14.4 points and 12.4 rebounds. He certainly helped his scoring average with a relentless performance in which he made seven field goal and also got to the line where he sank 10 of his 11 free throws.
“(We) just wanted to come in and get this win,” Dixon said. “We got to take pride in our defense. That’s the Trenton High way.”
Juan Sanchez added 23 points for his fifth straight game of 20 or more and Aivaye Ingram scored 19, including a pair of highlight-reel dunks, for Trenton (5-5, 3-0 CVC Colonial).
Dante Vazquez led Nottingham (4-4, 0-2, CVC Colonial) with 13 points and Chris Dormevil finished with 10.
Ewing 55, Robbinsville 52
EWING — The Blue Devils (5-3, 2-1 CVC Colonial) got 16 points from Joel Cineus, 13 from Terrance Traylor and picked up a key division win by holding off the Ravens (5-5, 1-2 CVC Colonial). Marcus Rodolphe had 24 points for Robbinsville.
Hopewell Valley 60, Princeton 22
HOPEWELL TWP. — Jude Berman put in 15 points, Dean Mantuano added 10 and the Bulldogs (7-2, 3-0 CVC Colonial) used a suffocating defensive effort to hold down the Tigers (1-6, 0-2 CVC Colonial) and remain unbeaten in division action.

PLAINSBORO — Malachi Jeffers-Viera continued his fine season with 24 points, Blake Amos Whitfield put in 14 and the undefeated Knights (9-0, 2-0 CVC Valley)) rode a fast start past the Panthers (3-4, 2-1 CVC Valley). Gary Jennings finished with 17 points and Zalin Pack added 10 for PDS.
Lawrence 76, WW-PS 48
PRINCETON JCT. — Sachin Kotta scored a career-best 17 points to lead four players in double figures as the Cardinals (6-4, 3-0 CVC Valley) jumped all over the Pirates (2-9, 1-2 CVC Valley). Noah Johansen added 16 points, Marvin McNeil had 15 and Connor Crowley ended up with 10. Josiah Cureton tallied a game-high 19 for South.
Allentown 55, Steinert 51
HAMILTON — Frank Varricchio netted 19 ponts, Cal Shellenberger added 10 and the Redbirds (2-5, 1-2 CVC Valley) denied the Spartans (0-8, 0-2 CVC Valley) a first victory with a big fourth-quarter rally in which they outscored the host, 20-9. Anthony Santucci paced Steinert with 16 pointsand Cameron Popso had 15.
Phillipsburg 74, Hamilton West 54
HAMILTON — Sean Turner scored a game-high 20 points for the Hornets (0-9), but it wasn’t enough as they remain in search of their first win after falling to the Stateliners (6-3) in non-league action.
Pennington 90, Solebury 42
SOLEBURY, Pa. — Cheikh Sagar Fall had a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds, DJay Snead added 13 and Joran Owusus finished with 10 as the Red Hawks (7-3) got ready for MAPL play with a big win over Solebury.
