HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - The town of Hadley is looking to expand broadband internet for all of its residents.
A public hearing took place Tuesday night on the town's municipal digital equity plan at the town's Senior Center. It aims to help close the divide between age groups and get everyone more comfortable being online.
The committee is collaborating with consultants to draft a plan to accommodate the older and more vulnerable populations with reliable and affordable digital services. Hadley has received a 50,000 dollar grant from the Massachusetts Broadband Institute to help create this plan.
"It's the fact that a lot of the service providers don't want to build out to just one home every few miles. So it's figuring out how can we help them, how can we entice the providers to make things better here? But also what other what are resources are in place for people to be able to use in the interim," said Kimley Horn Consultant, Kodi Berger.
A draft plan is due in February with a final plan needed by April.
