PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - MassDOT held a virtual meeting Tuesday evening to discuss a proposed bridge replacement project in Pittsfield. The replacement involves Pontoosuc Avenue over the West Branch Housatonic River Reservoir. The bridge was recently rated in poor condition. The goal is to provide a full replacement of the bridge, while creating new bike lanes and sidewalk accommodations, and improve the existing bridge opening. Designs are expected to be completed by next summer with construction beginning in the fall of 2026. City officials say the bridge will be closed during construction, and there will be no temporary bridge during construction.
