BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — A fire claimed a Bulloch County home on Tuesday morning, a Bulloch County Fire Department official said.
The fire on Highway 24 was reported at 10:16 a.m. to emergency services. A battalion chief was able to respond in under three minutes at 10:18 a.m., Prevention Chief Joe Carter told WSAV.
When the battalion chief arrived on the scene, he and some bystanders worked to ensure the house was unoccupied.
While he began his search and confirmed that no one was in the home, a bystander was able to rescue a pet out of the house.
Soon after, Bulloch County Fire and Statesboro Fire arrived on scene, Carter said.
The home is a total loss, he said, but Bulloch Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and the Red Cross have been called in to help the victims.
