NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- North Kansas City Police on Tuesday identified the woman found dead in the parking lot on the North Kansas City Hospital campus Monday morning. They also confirmed Loira Fells, 63, arrived at the same hospital a day earlier via ambulance transport by Kansas City Fire. Plenty of questions remain as to what happened between her arrival and when she was found dead outside the hospital the next day. Neighbors at 37th and Agnes say Fells had a routine. She would get up early every morning to go to work at Costco. Driver in Kansas City viral video explains why she jumped out of car "She was always polite. Spoke to everybody you couldn't come out on the porch without her saying 'hey, how you doing this morning,'" Richard Thornton said. She would then return home to her porch where at least a dozen furry friends were waiting. "She would feed the cats. Everyday nonstop she would put food out. And I was thinking wait a second she didn't come home. I said what, where would she be," Elizabeth Thornton said after last seeing Fells Saturday. According to Thornton, Fells lamented the coming blizzard. "She said no I don't want it to get it cold. I don't like the cold," Thornton recalled. Sunday, during that snow, Kansas City Fire was called to take Fells to the hospital. The fire department could not confirm where the call originated or what prompted it. "Evidently she slid off the road and had some type of accident and ended up at the hospital," Richard Thornton said. She arrived at North Kansas City Hospital at 12:23 p.m. Sunday. What happened after that remains a mystery. FOX4 asked if she was treated, admitted or discharged but so far all authorities have released is she was found dead outside an office building at 2700 Clay Edwards Drive on the hospital's campus at 9:45 the next morning. Richard Thornton met with Fells son Tuesday afternoon. "He came by and explained to me what was going on and he had a lot of sadness in him because he really loved his mother," he explained. The Thorntons say they are left wondering the same thing as the woman's family. Questions, concerns after Jackson County public works employee killed "That's what my question is. Why did she die in the parking lot?" Elizabeth Thornton asked. "That's what has him confused. How does she just get out of the hospital and just go out somewhere and just pass away?" Richard Thornton said. North Kansas City Hospital issued a statement from Kerri Jenkins, senior vice president, chief operating officer. "We were made aware that a deceased individual was found on the NKCH campus yesterday. We are cooperating with authorities to investigate this matter, and we are unable to provide any further comments.”
