KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Road crews are still clearing streets in the Kansas City metro and some areas have their own set of challenges getting all the snow out.
"Every challenge you got when it comes to clearing a street is this right here," said Kansas City Manager Brian Platt.
Shade, narrow streets and roads that are less traveled. All factors that can make snow removal that much more challenging.
"Things like this, where you don't get a lot of traffic on, but those are the most important because that's where everyone lives so we're working hard," Platt said.

The kinds of streets you'll find around the River Market.
"They've got a lot of people coming and clearing out the streets. I am even surprised how quickly they've got this cleared off in the River Market," said Tyler Reed, who lives in the River Market.
It's cleared up enough that businesses like Betty Rae's feel comfortable opening up and serving customers ready to get out of the house.
"A lot of people are excited especially because we're offering free hot chocolate today, so that's a big motivation to get people in here," Betty Rae's employee Nolan Poor said.
As drivers test their luck getting around, others are opting to walk.
"For now, just staying in, you can see the streets are kind of clear but there's still just a little bit more work to do, so just wait it out until its safer to travel," Neeia Cooperwood said.

Platt said as snow plows continue to work around the clock, it will help them out if people don't shovel the snow from around their cars onto the street.
And if you decide to venture out, still drive with caution.
