ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A court order secured by New York State Attorney General Letitia James means the official dissolution of the Community Resource Collaborative, according to an announcement made by James Tuesday. NYS Attorney General looks to dissolve Community Resource Collaborative The CRC is a nonprofit that was hired by Monroe County in 2023 to manage and divide American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds among community groups made up of what’s called the Neighborhood Collaborative Project. The agreement was set to last through 2026. However, the group faced major backlash amid accusations that organization leadership was using the money outside of its intended purpose. According to an audit by Monroe County, several thousand dollars of ARPA funding was used for personal endeavors by group executives. This included the repayment of loans for founder Tina Paradiso. Thousands of dollars were also paid to board member Anthony Hall, and other funds were used to pay for transportation and living expenses. "As a result of this self-dealing and financial mismanagement, the CRC failed to deliver $243,907.02 to community charities that provide food, housing, and other services and were promised aid," James announced Tuesday. Monroe County Legislature rejects replacement for Community Resource Collaborative The court order will also ensure an independent receiver is appointed to oversee CRC's remaining assets and take care of local nonprofits owed money.
