Driver slams into patrol vehicle in police pursuit, guns recovered: CHP

(KRON) – A driver accused of brandishing a weapon slammed into a patrol car in a police chase, according to the California Highway Patrol Redwood City division.
CHP patrol officers assisted San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office deputies in pursuing a gray pickup truck. According to CHP, the driver of the truck was seen consuming alcohol while driving and brandishing a handgun.
Authorities said the driver crashed into a Belmont Police Department patrol vehicle and continued to flee the scene.

The suspect was chased into San Jose where authorities said they used a pursuit immobilization technique maneuver to detain the suspect. According to CHP, there were no injuries in using this technique.
In a search of the vehicle, CHP said they found two BB handguns and a pellet rifle.
The driver was arrested and booked for brandishing a weapon and suspicion of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
