Syracuse, N.Y. – Jury selection began Monday in Syracuse for a racketeering trial that may be the first of its kind in Onondaga County. Two men are charged under a New York state law similar to the federal RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act) law, which is rarely used in the state. District Attorney William Fitzpatrick, who has been in his position for over thirty years, said he has never prosecuted this charge.
