Update: New York under a winter weather advisory until Thursday afternoon – up to 5 inches of snow

On Tuesday at 6:32 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated winter weather advisory in effect until Thursday at 1 p.m. for Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison and Cortland counties."Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches tonight into Wednesday morning. Then, another 2 to 6 inches expected Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will create areas of blowing snow," explains the weather service. "There will be several periods of lake effect snow, with some breaks in the snowfall possible at times. Two day totals will range from 5 to 12 inches for locations that see the most persistent lake effect snow."
