The Pittsfield Health Department has qualified to participate in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Community Naloxone Program, which permits the city's free distribution. Pittsfield residents can pick up Naloxone kits at 100 North Street at the Mezzanine Level any time during regular business hours, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Naloxone is a Food and Drug Administration-approved medication intended to rapidly reverse the effects of opioid overdose and restore breathing in two to three minutes. Naloxone is used by spraying it in your nose and is safe and easy to use, with no concern of addiction or abuse.
