City of Albuquerque issues health alert due to blowing dust

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque - Bernalillo County Air Quality Program issued a health alert Tuesday due to blowing dust. The health alert is effective from Tuesday, January 7, at 10:45 a.m. through 12:00 a.m. midnight on January 8. Any residents of Albuquerque or Bernalillo County with respiratory conditions should limit outdoor activity.

The Air Quality Program has also issued an immediate shutdown notice for all contractors and business in Albuquerque or Bernalillo County that generate dust. The shutdown notice is effective from 10:30 a.m. on January 7, through 12:00 a.m. midnight on January 8.
The city recommends taking the following steps during health alerts:
Limit time spent outdoors and avoid outdoor exercise
Keep windows and doors closed
Use air conditioners and heating systems in recirculation mode
Contact your health provider if you experience new shortness of breath, chest tightness, chest pain palpitations, or unusual fatigue
