Man pleads guilty to driving drunk, causing serious injury in Albuquerque crash

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who slammed into a public service aide truck, seriously injuring a person during a drunk driving crash, took a plea deal. Nathaniel Lucero crashed into the service aid truck while it was responding to another crash near the Lead-Coal exit on I-25 in May 2024 causing one of the police services aides to get a head injury.
Two men arrested, facing felony charges in Albuquerque
The truck was hit so hard that it rammed an Albuquerque Police Department car. Officers said Lucero smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking that night. Lucero pled guilty to great bodily harm by vehicle DUI on Tuesday. He's facing up to 18 months behind bars.
