RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) —  If you thought 2024 was hot, you are not wrong. In fact, 2024 was the hottest year on record in Richmond. The average temperature, which takes both the high temperature and low temperature of each day in 2024 was 61.8 degrees. This topped our previous record by 0.4 degrees which was set in 2023. In fact, eight out of the 10 hottest years happened in the last 25 years. Not only did we see the hottest year in Richmond, but we also had some very warm holidays. Halloween 2024 was the hottest Halloween on record for the city. As we all know, it was also a record-breaking hurricane season in the Atlantic with the earliest ever Category 5 storm. While our temperatures are cold to start the New Year, 2024 was quite the opposite.
