The co-founder of a Louisville-area tourism staple has died.
Carl Huber, the fifth-generation owner of Huber’s Orchard and Winery in Starlight, Indiana, died at his home on Saturday, Jan. 4, according to an obituary. He was 84.
Carl, along with his brother Gerald, inherited the family farm from their grandfather in 1966. The brothers ramped up direct-to-consumer sales with the advent of modern refrigeration, allowing them to package fruits for grocery stores.
