FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) - Businesses in Fond du Lac County are joining the fight against fentanyl overdoses as officials put overdose aid kits across the community. Officials gathered at ADVOCAP's headquarters in Fond du Lac to discuss the meaning of these kits, why they're taking action now and the history of these specific tools. Brown County United Way reinvests $150,000 towards supporting schools According to data from Fond du Lac County's suicide and overdose death annual report, Fond du Lac County saw 24 overdose deaths in 2023, with fentanyl present in about 87%. In addition, 65% of the year's overdose deaths were a combination of opioids and stimulants, which is a nationwide trend. Green Bay Police Department: Two free grant-funded ‘Project Lifesaver’ bracelets available These kits are being donated to local businesses courtesy of family members who have lost loved ones to overdose deaths. Overdose Aid Kits will provide resources for free to the community and are intended to combat the ongoing opioid crisis, assisting those in serious need or at risk.
