GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Brown County United Way announced on Tuesday that they're reinvesting $150,000 in its Community Schools Initiative for the 2024-25 school year. According to the release, the money will expand its impact on two schools, Howe Elementary Community and Nicolet Elementary. Packers and Sargento Foods continuing hunger relief campaign throughout playoffs Howe Elementary Community School has 373 students in grades 4K through 5th and it's been a major piece of Brown County United Way's Community Schools Initiative since inception. Nicolet Elementary is now part of the initiative and serves 330 students from 4K to 5th grade. The schools were chosen as they "embody the Community School model" as they offer varying services to create support for students and their families. The key pillars of the initiative, according to the release are: Integrated student supports Expanded learning time Family and community engagement Collaborative leadership and shared decision-making Partnerships with organizations in the community Green Bay Area Public School District Superintendent Vicki Bayer said they value its continued collaboration with Brown County United Way to create strong schools that support the communities. "This reinvestment focuses on areas of critical need that will have a positive impact on student achievement," Bayer said. Robyn Davis, Brown County United Way's President and CEO said the investment embodies the organization's commitment to supporting local schools and the families they serve. "We are working alongside our partners to create environments where students can excel academically and thrive personally," Davis said.
