BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A new initiative aimed at better serving victims of human trafficking in Bakersfield is being implemented at Kern Medical. On Jan. 23, Kern Medical will establish the Human Trafficking Task Force, a new collaborative effort with the goal of better supporting and identifying victims of human trafficking. Kern County healthcare providers, law enforcement and community partners will all be working together on this project, according to officials. Fast-moving wildfire erupts in Pacific Palisades; homes threatened The launch will take place at the Kern Medical Courtyard at 12:30 p.m. The courtyard is located at 1700 Mount Vernon Avenue. “We are honored to bring together such a distinguished group of speakers todiscuss this urgent issue,” said Scott Thygerson, CEO of Kern Medical. “It is vital thatour healthcare system plays an active role in identifying and supporting victims ofhuman trafficking." Organizers say keynote speakers at the event will focus on education, awareness and other tips on identifying signs of human trafficking.
