AUSTIN (KXAN) — Glen Powell fans were seeing double at the Golden Globes Sunday, as the Austin native and Golden Globes nominee joined his Lone Star doppelgänger on the red carpet. Austin resident Kate Carpenter hosted a Glen Powell look alike competition at Auditorium Shores in downtown Austin in late November. Powell's mother, Cyndy, served as one of the event's judges, and physician's assistant Maxwell Braunstein was crowned its winner. PAST COVERAGE: Austin native Glen Powell to star in latest hit: a look-alike competition It was a Texas showdown on the Golden Globes red carpet Sunday, when Braunstein and Powell properly met. "Oh, it's you!" Powell yelled in a moment captured and shared by E! News. Braunstein wasn't the only celebrity look alike in town for the Hollywood event. Miles Mitchell, who won the Timothée Chalamet look alike competition in New York in October, also made an appearance. Powell attended the ceremony as an acting nominee for his work in the Netflix film "Hit Man," a black comedy film Powell co-wrote the screenplay for alongside director and Austin resident Richard Linklater. That nomination earned Powell plenty of praise throughout the industry and here in Texas — including from Texas Longhorns football's head coach, Steve Sarkisian. In a video shared by Access Hollywood, Sarkisian congratulated Powell on his first Golden Globes nomination and thanked him for his support of the Longhorns program.
