WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- After a winter storm slammed parts of the DMV on Monday, several jurisdictions across the region are seeing impacts on trash and recycling removal. A few counties have resumed trash and recycling pickup; however, several others have yet to do so. DC News Now has compiled a list of the impacts on trash and recycling pickup in areas across the DMV. How much snow did DC get? Maryland Montgomery County In Montgomery County, the Department of Environmental Protection announced that due to the snow conditions, all county-provided recycling and refuse collection services at single-family homes and townhomes will be postponed on Tuesday and will be completed on Wednesday instead. The department noted that Friday collections will slide into Monday, Jan. 13, and the entire week of Jan. 13 will operate on a "slide schedule," with the last pickup set for Sat, Jan. 18. In the City of Gaithersburg, recycling collections for those in the recycling areas will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Residents can sign up for alerts from the city here. Prince George's County Due to the icy conditions, the Prince George's County Department of the Environment has also suspended trash removal. According to the department, all residential bulky, trash and recycling curbside collections will be suspended on Tuesday. Collection will resume Wednesday and operate on a slide schedule until Saturday, Jan. 11. The department reminds residents within neighborhoods that they may experience delays or additional suspensions once pickup resumes due to varying road conditions. According to the DC Department of Public Works, trash and recycling services have resumed as of Tuesday. However, residents may still experience some delays in snow-covered areas. "Steady Progress! With 200+ snow vehicles on the road overnight and in the early morning, DPW crews successfully plowed and salted major streets and continue on residential roads," the department wrote in a post on the X platform. Despite the resumption of services, the Fort Totten Transfer Station residential drop-off ramp remains closed. The department did not specify when it will reopen. Virginia Arlington In Arlington, regular Tuesday curbside collection routes have shifted by a day, moving collection for those routes to Wednesday, according to the Arlington Department of Environmental Services. Pickup will continue to operate on a slide schedule for the rest of the week through Saturday. Those who receive pickup on Wednesdays will now receive it on Thursday, those who receive it on Thursday will now receive it on Friday and residents who receive it on Friday will now receive it on Saturday.
