$100m awarded for Rochester's Inner Loop North Project

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – $100-million awarded to kick start the Rochester Inner Loop North Project, Senator Chuck Schumer confirmed Tuesday.
The award marks the largest Federal Reconnecting Communities Award this year, and marks one of the biggest investments in the transformation of the Inner Loop in downtown Rochester since the recent construction of Inner Loop East.
The project includes a focus on Inner Loop North Transformation Project in an effort to reconnect disadvantaged neighborhoods to Rochester's downtown.

“This funding means new safer streets, bike lines, green spaces, and good paying local construction jobs helping lay the foundation for Rochester’s future. We are making Rochester a national model for the future of transportation policy and reconnecting communities. Rochester’s next chapter begins today," Senator Schumer said.
Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Reconnecting Communities Grant Program.
Inner Loop North: $4 million approved by US House for development in Rochester
According to Senator Schumer, the money should be headed to Rochester within the next few months, and construction will start as soon as the money is received by the city.
