2 face manslaughter charges in North Bay opioid overdose death

(KRON) -- The Marin County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that two people were arrested for voluntary manslaughter in connection to the opioid overdose death of a 22-year-old man in Corte Madera.
On Saturday morning, the Central Marin Police Authority officers responded to a report of an unconscious man inside a vehicle on Sunnyside Avenue. Arriving emergency personnel located the 22-year-old man deceased.
The cause of death was determined to be a suspected opioid overdose death, according to a Marin County Coroner investigator. The sheriff’s office Specialized Investigations Unit began to investigate a potential overdose homicide.

Probable cause developed by the unit led to the arrests of two suspects, identified as 25-year-old Raul Beltran and 22-year-old Olivia Peters, both of Corte Madera. Beltran and Peters were booked into the Marin County Jail on charges of voluntary manslaughter and furnishing a controlled substance resulting in great bodily harm.
Bail was set at $100,000 for each suspect.
