TOPEKA (KSNT) - One person was injured following a house fire in Topeka on Tuesday morning. City of Topeka spokesman Dan Garrett said in a media release that firefighters were called around 7 a.m. on Jan. 7 to a house in the 2300 block of Southwest Fillmore. Topeka firefighters found smoke coming from the house upon arrival. The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) found that several people escaped the home before they arrived at the scene. One person from the home was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Garrett said the cause of the fire was determined to be a faulty furnace. It caused around $5,000 in damage to the home. What areas in Topeka will be cleared of snow first? For more local news, click here.
