BOSTON (WWLP) - Approximately 30 cats are being nursed back to health after being rescued from a single-family home in Norfolk County. Massachusetts animal shelter raising money for homeless French Bulldog The MSPCA-Angell states that the cats were removed from their single-family home on January 2nd after living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. The cats lived without enough access to food, water, and clean litter boxes, but are in generally good health. The cats were removed in coordination with local animal control, which also took 10 cats from the home. No animal cruelty charges are being pursued at this time. MSPCA-Angell MSPCA-Angell MSPCA-Angell MSPCA-Angell “These cats are pretty thin, so they’re on refeeding plans to get them to a healthier weight,” said Vice President of the MSPCA-Angell’s Animal Protection Division, Mike Keiley. “Some also need treatment for upper respiratory infections, which is common when there’s a large number of cats in one home.” “It doesn’t appear that any need serious medical treatment, which is good, but regardless, taking in so many unexpectedly at one time still puts an extraordinary strain on our resources,” he added. The rescued cats are adult domestic shorthairs and their care will cost around $5,000. Those who wish to donate may go to mspca.org/manycats.
