Rhode Island man accused of stealing police cruiser due in court

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WWLP) - A man is being accused of stealing a police cruiser in Rhode Island and taking it for a joy ride across state lines to Connecticut.

Jared Remson, 27, of Pawtucket is scheduled to face a judge on Tuesday, according to our NBC affiliate WJAR. He allegedly stole the police cruiser on Saturday outside of Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.
The officer was inside the hospital during the incident and reported it stolen. Connecticut State Police spotted the cruiser crossing the state line on I-95 South about an hour later.
Police say Remson was driving faster than 100 mph at times. He's facing several charges including first-degree larceny and reckless driving.
