AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - The Town of Amherst is inviting the community to discuss future housing plans.
Amherst moves forward in construction of new elementary school
This initiative aims to identify and address the housing needs of low- and moderate-income residents in Amherst, with an emphasis on affordability and diverse housing options. As part of the planning process, the town conducted a public survey in November, receiving robust community participation.
Some of the top priorities that were identified by survey participants include:
Creating housing across a range of price points.
Increasing diverse housing options citywide.
Enabling residents to remain in their current homes and community as they age.
The open house will be at the Jones Library from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and will provide an opportunity for residents to explore the survey results and share additional feedback. Hosted by the Town of Amherst and Barrett Planning group, the event will have activity stations where participants can share ideas. Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be provided for those who attend, as well as coloring activities and interactive materials for children.
