Man arrested for aggravated sodomy while out on bond for same crime

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A man was arrested in Chatham County on sexual assault charges for the second time just a few weeks ago while he was out on bond.
It's a case involving two charges of aggravated sodomy, and one charge of rape.
Taylor Tallent is the accused, and since his last arrest in 2023, records indicate he's been wearing an ankle monitor.
Tallent used to work at a now-closed bar on West Broughton Street in Savannah called Vice Lounge. That was before he was arrested for aggravated sodomy and rape in April 2023 for an alleged incident at the bar.

Tallent was taken to the Chatham County Jail on April 1, 2023, and police records show he was released with an ankle monitor the following month.
He was arrested again for aggravated sodomy in late December of 2024 while he was out on bail.
When the news broke, many took to social media to express frustration that Tallent was let out and therefore was able to allegedly offend again.
News 3 asked the new sheriff of Chatham County, Richard Coleman, about this case. While he can't speak specifically about this case because it happened before his tenure, he did talk generally about this issue in the criminal justice system.
"Unfortunately, we face some things after situations occur, but we do our best to keep them from occurring again,” Sheriff Coleman said. “I think it takes a combined effort of the DA, of the sheriff, the chief law enforcement officer in the county and the court system."

He said it’s easy to point fingers, but the focus should be on the resolution and prevention.
“We won't say that this group or that entity is responsible,” Coleman continued. “We'll just say we need to work more collectively together to prevent these instances from occurring."
After Tallent's last arrest, he was let out of jail after four days.
He is still out on bond.
WSAV reached out to the Chatham County District Attorney's Office about this case and has not yet received a response.
