DIGHTON, MA (WLNE) — The family displaced in a fire in Dighton late Monday night is getting help from a local organization. Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District superintendent Bill Runey told ABC6 he is coordinating with the Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children to offer the family support. He partnered with the group after receiving messages from the community Tuesday morning offering support. The fire started just before 10 p.m. Monday in the back of the home on Rose Terrace, according to the Dighton Fire Department. Everyone inside got out of the home. Nobody was hurt. “At this time, we believe the fire was started by a bathroom exhaust fan,” Dighton Fire Chief Christopher Maguy said in a statement. “The whole back half of the roof burnt through, but the fire was mostly contained to attic spaces.” Low temperatures led to ice and slippery conditions on the street, Maguy said. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by local police, firefighters, and the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office for a final determination.
