Bathroom fan sparks Dighton house fire; family displaced
Jan 07, 2025
DIGHTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A family is without a home after a fire broke out in Dighton late Monday night.
Dozens of fire crews responding to Rose Terrace just before 10 p.m. found fire coming from the back of the home.
Fire Chief Christopher Maguy said the residents got out before firefighters arrived.
Crews were able to quickly knock down the bulk of the fire, but dealt with extremely low temperatures which led to ice and slippery conditions.
"At this time, we believe the fire was started by a bathroom exhaust fan," Maguy said. "The whole back half of the roof burnt through, but the fire was mostly contained to attic spaces."
No one was injured and the fire remains under investigation.
