HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) -- A woman has died following a crash in Hampton early Tuesday morning. VSP urges drivers to use caution as winter weather moves across the state According to police, officers were dispatched to the intersection of LaSalle Avenue and West Mercury Boulevard at 12:27 a.m. for the report of a single vehicle crash. When officers arrived on scene, they found the female driver suffering from life-threatening injuries. Courtesy- Hampton Police Division Members of the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue transported her to the local hospital, where she later died. After investigating, it was revealed that the driver was traveling southbound on LaSalle Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed over into the northbound lanes, drove off the roadway and struck a tree. The crash remains under investigation by members of the Hampton Police Division’s Accident Reconstruction Team. Police said weather was not a contributing factor to the crash.
