No officers injured after shootout in Peru

PERU, Ind. — At least one suspect has been shot by police in Peru after a "strange man" was found in a pregnant woman's garage.
According to state police and local law enforcement, a shootout occurred on Tuesday morning in the 1600 block of State Road 19 involving police officers and at least one suspect. Preliminary information suggests the shooting happened at a mobile home park.
A neighbor told FOX59/CBS4 that a pregnant woman lives in the home and had been leaving to head to the hospital for a C-section when she spotted a "strange man" in her garage. Police were called to the scene and the confrontation turned violent with shots being fired.
No police officers have been harmed but one suspect was shot by law enforcement. The injured suspect's condition isn't known at this time. The suspect has been transported to a hospital.
Authorities confirm the situation is still ongoing and that another suspect, or suspects, may be barricaded inside a residence or garage. This suspect may also be armed, police said.

Authorities said a search is also being conducted in a nearby wooded area where suspects could be hiding.
At this time, no further information has been released as the investigation is active and ongoing.
