St. George interim mayor to run for full term mayor in spring election
Jan 07, 2025
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- City of St. George Interim Mayor Dustin Yates announced his plans to run for mayor.
Yates is seeking a full term after being appointed by Gov. Jeff Landry in May 2024.
“I’m running for mayor because I believe in a brighter future for our city and parish—a future where families thrive, businesses grow, and neighbors work together,” said Yates. “St. George is a community that has already shown what we can accomplish when we come together and I want to build on that momentum.”
During his career, Yates has worked as a teacher, coach and St. George Fire Department firefighter. He resigned from the classified service of the fire department before announcing his candidacy and will continue as an unclassified employee.
Election Day will be on March 29.
