Child in Ohio suffers fatal burns from hot water, mother detained

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Police are investigating the death of a child who reportedly suffered burn injuries from hot water Monday morning just south of downtown Columbus.
According to Columbus police, officers and medics responded to a home at 7:43 a.m. on Eaton Avenue in South Franklinton after receiving reports of a child not breathing. Police said the child touched hot water on a stove and was taken to an area hospital.

The child was pronounced dead at 8:18 a.m. and the mother was detained by police.
Columbus police said its homicide unit will investigate.
