SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) — A man and a woman were arrested after a dog was stolen from an elderly couple Friday night in Southern Pines, police announced Monday. According to the Southern Pines Police Department, officers responded Friday just before 8 p.m. to a report of a stolen dog at a Kickback Jacks at 10745 US 15/501. Randolph County woman accused of stealing dog, assault on Christmas Eve Police said they were told a man at first offered to help an elderly couple to their car at the restaurant. However, while helping them, the man grabbed a tan Shih Tzu from the couple, police said. The man then ran to a car driven by a woman, which sped away from the scene, according to police. On Monday afternoon, police said Lamondrick Keon Blue, 25, of Wagram, and Novia Z'Hane Ratliff, 21, of Hamlet were apprehended in the incident. Warrants show both are charged with larceny of a dog. Blue is being held at the Richmond County Detention Center under no bond and Ratliff is being held at the Richmond County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Moore County Court on Thursday, Jan. 16, according to Southern Pines police.
